Riley Ann drops by with groceries one day and finds her father losing touch. Living alone on the windswept prairie. Wandering through time and past indignities. Delusional. She steps up and steps in, chief cook and bottle-washer. He obsesses about the coyote at the edge of the field. While she spends sleepless nights on the sofa, he rages and frets and fades away. Exhausted, holding on, hoping to ease his passing, Riley Ann joins his demented fantasy, helping the coyote help him along.
