BIFF Hands-On Filmmaking Workshops

A new media arts course for narrative film production.
Broadway Pictures Entertainment (BPE) in partnership with BIFF is offering Hands-On Filmmaking Workshops in Boston.
This hands-on filmmaking program is design to educate by interactive learning. We intend to help inspired filmmakers to find and create their own original film production projects. Through our hands-on approach, students get practical training and develop the creative skills to bring their stories to life.
Broadway Pictures Entertainment (BPE) Beyond Control cast & crew
Students will direct a series of scenes in a team of five or more and rotate through the principal film crew positions. Students will learn how to produced their own short films. Students will work with state-of-the-art equipment and facilities, while receiving explicit instruction from professionals in the film industry. Students will also collaborate with other program participants to enhance their learning experience and gain extensive exposure to all valuable roles in the production of a film. With a challenging project-based course of study, Broadway Pictures Entertainment studio establishes a fascinating learning environment applicable for everyone with interest and passion for filmmaking.

Overview
During these hands-on three (3) weeks programs, students write, shoot, and direct, a short film, studying under the guidance of our professional staff of directors and filmmakers.
Week one
Students spend a majority of time creating their own screenplay content and developing fundamental knowledge in cinematic storytelling.
Week two
Students will learn filmmaking techniques and continue to create their own original short screenplay.
Week three
On set Hands-on filming. Full scale production on location.

Week One
- Introduction to Screenwriting for movies
- Three-act structure
- Theme and Plot outline
- Principal Elements of visual storytelling
- Develop a plan from initial script idea to a finished film project. Each participants are expected to write a short script of 5 to 10 pages.
Week Two
- Camera operation and directing
- On set Sound Mixer training
- Real-On set designing training
Week Three
- Production
- Film shooting schedule for cast, crew and location designation
- Film shooting.
(This workshops do not provide film editing classes. All scenes will be produced with the blackmagic 4K production camera)
