INDIA NEW ENGLAND - The 12 Annual Boston International Film Festival, which gathered filmmakers from around the world this month, awarded Best Director Award to first-time film maker Gauri Adelkar for "The Theft" in short film category. Based in Somerville, MA and originally from Mumbai, India, Adelkar is deeply passionate about projects and stories that narrate the human condition and explore questions and issues that are relevant to today's society. She holds a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University and a certificate in Digital Filmmaking from CDIA, Boston University. Previously, Adelkar has worked as an Assistant director, and editor on independent projects. She was an Assistant Director for the short film "That Bitch" which was screened at the New York New Filmmaker 2014 Winter Series.INDIA New England News talked to Adelkar about making of The Theft, which was produced at a shoe-string budget of only $5,000.
